Originally subtitled “The Song.” Arthur Christopher Benson (1862-1925) was a friend of poet A.E. Housman and an English poet, author, and professor. His brothers and sister were also accomplished authors. He fought the effects of bipolar disorder before there were effective treatments. He wrote the poem “Land of Hope and Glory,” used in Elgar’s Coronation Anthem for King Edward VII.
